SSG Landers won a thrilling 6-5 walk-off victory with a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the 10th inning of extra time in the 2022 Shinhan Bank SOL KBO League match against the Doosan Bears at SSG Landers Field in Incheon on the 22nd.
Doosan started with Kim Jae-ho’s hit in the third inning. Ahn Kwon-soo attempted a surprise bunt and made an infield hit to the right of the pitcher. Doosan took a chance to second and third base with no outs due to SSG starter Oh Won-seok’s throwing error. When Fernandez grounded out to shortstop, third baseman Kim Jae-ho rushed home. Park Sung-han hit Doosan closer Hong Gun-hee with a sharp pitch toward left field. I thought I could catch it, but Kim Jae-hwan missed the ball. The ball rolled over Kim Jae-hwan’s glove to the fence. Meanwhile, Park Sung-han advanced to second base.
Kim Jae-hwan of the Doosan Bears bowed his head and blamed himself in disappointment. Commentator Kwon Hyuk saw this scene and said, “Considering Kim Jae-hwan’s defensive ability, it was a sufficient ball to handle,” adding, “I think I made a mistake in batting judgment momentarily.”
