After scoring six goals in September, Tottenham’s Heung-min Son has been named the English Professional Football (EPL) Player of the Month for the fourth time in his career.
The EPL secretariat announced on its website on Wednesday (13 July) that Son was named Player of the Month for September.
This is the fourth Player of the Month award in his career, joining the likes of Alan Shearer, Thierry Henry, Frank Lampard and other EPL legends.
He had previously won the award three times (September 2016 – April 2017 – October 2020). This is his first win in three years.
Only six players in EPL history have won the award more times than Son Heung-min.
The previous winners were Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero, who won the award seven times, and Harry Kane (Bayern Munich), who left Tottenham (and England) this summer after forming a close partnership with Heung-min.
Son scored six goals in four games in September, including one hat-trick.
And while he was on a goal parade, his club, Tottenham, cruised to an unbeaten start with three wins and a draw.
This is the second month in a row that Tottenham has had a Player of the Month. August’s Player of the Month was James Maddison, a freshman and vice-captain midfielder who assists captain Son Heung-min.
Tottenham head coach Anzhi Postecoglou was also named the September Manager of the Month. Postecoglou was also voted the league’s top coach in August.
Postecoglou is the first manager to win the award twice in his first month in charge, the organisation said.
With six wins and two draws from eight regular-season games in the 2023-2024 season, Spurs are top of the league.
They have the same head-to-head and goal difference (+10) as Arsenal (16), but Spurs are ahead in goals scored (18). 파워볼게임
