It was a blowout.
The Daegu KOGAS Pegasus won 99-85 against the Busan KCC Aegis in the sixth round of the 2023-2024 Jeonggwanjang Professional Basketball League on Friday at Daegu Gymnasium. KOGAS, which snapped a two-game losing streak, is in seventh place with 20 wins and 29 losses, while KCC, which is in a two-game losing streak, is in fifth place with 25 wins and 22 losses.
Andrew Nicholson exploded for 32 points for KCC. He scored in 25 minutes and 33 seconds. Shin Seung-min added 14 points and Park Ji-hoon also had 14 points. Samjosef Belangel also played well with 10 points. KCC Lagunar scored 24 points, while Heo Woong, Lee Seung-hyun, and Jung Chang-young added 15, 13, and 10 points, respectively.
From the first quarter, both teams battled hard. KCC took the early lead with a three-pointer by Lee Ho-hyun and a basket by Lagunar. However, KOGAS fought back with back-to-back baskets from Nicholson and then tied the score at 4-7 with a three-pointer from Park Ji-hoon. From there, both teams exchanged points and the game remained tense. In the final minute, KCC took the lead when Park Bong-jin’s three-pointer went through the rim and Nicholson scored back-to-back baskets, but KCC answered with back-to-back baskets from Heo Woong. KCC ended the first quarter with a 27-26 lead.
KCC continued their run in the second quarter. The score remained one point at the start of the quarter, but in the middle of the quarter, Shin Seung-min, Nicholson, and Belangel scored consecutive baskets to extend the lead. Park Ji-hoon continued the momentum with a three-pointer and Maxwell with a dunk. In the final minute, Shin and Nicholson each hit a three-pointer. KOGAS went into halftime with a 51-42 lead.
In the third quarter, the gap didn’t widen or narrow much. Chabawi’s three-pointer opened the scoring for KOGAS, but 사설토토 KCC responded with back-to-back baskets from Ragan-ah and Lee Seung-hyun. In the middle of the period, Park Ji-hoon and Heo Woong exchanged baskets. KCC closed out the third quarter with an 80-69 lead on a buzzer-beater by Belangel.
KOGAS continued its momentum in the fourth quarter. It started with a three-pointer from Park Ji-hoon. Shin Joo-young followed with a three-pointer. In the final minutes, three-pointers by Yoo Yoo-seong and Kim Nak-hyun found the rim. After that, the game went into a lull and ended with a victory for KOGAS.
