
Byun Sang-il wins his first GS Caltex title.
Byun Sang-il won the 28th GS Caltex Bar Professional Tournament in Korea with a 3-0 overall victory over Choi Jeong 9-dan in game 5 of the final in 206 moves at the Go TV Studio in Kiwon, Korea.
Byun Sang-il won the title for the first time after reaching the final for three consecutive years.
He had previously finished as runner-up in the 26th and 27th finals, losing to Shin Shin-seo 9-dan.
“My form hasn’t been so good lately, but as I’ve been 먹튀검증 winning game after game, I feel like my form is picking up,” Byun said, adding, “My goal is to win a gold medal at the upcoming Hangzhou Asian Games.”
Meanwhile, Choi Jeong 9, who qualified for the second time for the tournament, became the first Korean female knight to win the GS Caltex title with eight consecutive victories, including four in a row in the qualifiers and four in the main event. It was the first time in 22 years that a female knight had reached the final of a domestic tournament since Luina Yiwei reached the final of the 44th Noodles in 2001.
However, she had to settle for a runner-up finish as she was blocked by Byun’s 9th dan in the final game.
The runner-up Choi said, “I believe there will be many opportunities in the future. I will try to do better,” said the runner-up.
