A total of 143 casinos in Cambodia have submitted annual license applications to the country’s gaming regulator. Roth Pirun, secretary general of Cambodia’s Commercial Gambling Commission, said only 13 licenses have been issued this year.
A new rule approved in 2020 states that casinos in Cambodia must renew their respective licenses each year.

Cambodian media outlet Phnom Penh Post reported on Monday that the country’s first-half national income from commercial gambling in Cambodia was only 8% of its annual target set at 174.2 billion KHR ($43.55 million).
