NC Dinos slugger Park Gun-woo (33) has avoided surgery.
The club announced on Monday that Park underwent further examination at a hospital in Seoul and was diagnosed with a right ulnar fracture and wrist ligament damage. The team added that stabilization and immobilization for six weeks is required, and that there is no need for surgery. He will be re-examined after six weeks and will begin rehabilitation.
Park was hit in the right wrist by a seven-pitch fastball on a full count against Lotte starter Park Se-woong with the bases loaded in the bottom of the third inning of a 0-0 home game against the Lotte Giants at Changwon NC Park on April 26. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was diagnosed with a suspected right wrist fracture.
He underwent a second medical examination at a hospital in Seoul on Nov. 27, but the result was the same. The NC removed Park from the first-team roster ahead of the game on Nov. 27. On the 29th, he was diagnosed with a fractured ulna and damaged wrist ligaments.
He was fortunate not to require surgery.
Given the treatment and rehabilitation period, it’s unlikely he’ll be back until the end of the regular season. However, if the team makes it to the postseason, it”s possible that he could return. Park has been a mainstay at the plate this year, batting .323 (111-for-323) with 13 home runs, 53 RBIs, 58 runs scored, four doubles, and a .951 OPS in 89 games.
NC has slipped to seventh place, 토토사이트 순위 but is only 2.5 games out of third place Samsung. They are certainly in contention for a top-tier finish. The team released foreign left-hander Castano on Aug. 28 and will bring in a new pitcher. He pitched his way to the fall.
However, the offensive lineup faces a tough task in the five-way battle for the top spot without top hitter Park Gun-woo. Their top hitter, Son As-seob, is also out with an injury. Son has been sidelined for the second half of the season with a posterior cruciate ligament injury in his left knee. He is scheduled to undergo a reexamination in early August, but it may be difficult for him to return in time for the season.
Meanwhile, NC will host Kiwoom at the Gocheok SkyDome in Seoul on the 30th. With native starter Shin Min-hyuk out of the rotation due to elbow pain, NC has announced Lee Yong-joon as the starter. Kiwoom’s starting pitcher is Ha Young-min.
