LS accuses Taihan of stealing cable technologies

LS Cable & Solution (C&S) criticized Taihan Cable & Solution (C&S) for the alleged theft of submarine cable technologies on Monday, threatening to take all possible legal actions both domestically and internationally if the allegations turn out to be true.

“Taihan C&S’ technology theft is an obvious crime,” LS C&S said in its press release.

“The main point of this case is whether Taihan C&S stole the floor plan and layout of LS C&S’ submarine cable manufacturing facilities.”

The statement came as the police started to consider Taihan C&S as a suspect in this case and searched its headquarters in Anyang, Gyeonggi Province, Thursday.

When the police searched its factory in Dangjin, South Chungcheong Province, last month, Taihan C&S said that it was not a suspect in the case and that the police search into its factory was intended to prove Gaun Architects & Engineers’ crimes.

Gaun, which designed the Dangjin factory, is suspected of having leaked technologies that it obtained from LS C&S, while designing its factories between 2008 and 2023.

When the case was first made public last month, LS C&S remained cautious about mentioning the names of Taihan C&S and Gaun in its press release, although it also 추천 said at that time that it would take legal action if the allegations turn out to be true.

LS C&S described Taihan C&S as a “competitor” and used Gaun’s initial in its previous press release.

“In addition, we heard that Taihan C&S contacted other partners of LS C&S to build the same facilities.”

Taihan C&S refuted LS C&S’ claim and emphasized its existing capabilities in manufacturing submarine cable equipment. It also said that LS C&S appears to be trying to protect its monopoly of the submarine cable market.

“To prevent any possible damage to our stakeholders, we sincerely ask our competitor to refrain from media manipulation,” Taihan C&S said in its press release. “If the allegations turn out to be false, we will take all possible legal actions.”
