Doosan Bears manager Lee Seung-yeop hopes the team’s good form will carry over into the regular season after finishing the exhibition games without a loss.
“It’s the final tune-up,” Lee said through the organization after the Bears tied 7-7 with the Hanwha Eagles in the 2024 Shinhan Sol Bank KBO League exhibition game at Hanwha Life Eagles Park in Daejeon on Monday. We hope that the players will continue to build on their confidence and continue the good trend in the regular season.”
Doosan, which had won all eight of its exhibition games before today’s match, would have become the second team in history to win all eight of its exhibition games after Hanwha, 스포츠토토 which won all five in the 1999 Magic League.
While the game ended in a tie, Doosan was unable to set a new record for wins, it was able to finish the tournament undefeated.
Doosan is only the third team in history to finish a KBO League exhibition game without a loss, joining the Lotte Giants in 1995 (5 wins and 1 draw) and Hanwha in 1999.
Doosan also finished the exhibition games in first place.
This is the sixth time in the history of the organization that Doosan has finished first in an exhibition game.
“As it was an exhibition game, we didn’t focus on winning or losing, and we tried to play the game in order, but we were able to finish undefeated thanks to the thorough off-season preparation of the entire team,” said Lee.
“Many fans traveled to Icheon and Jamsil even though the exhibition matches were held during the daytime on weekdays. We are grateful for their support, and we will do our best to do well in the regular season.”
