Shin Sang-hoon (76), the new president of the Korean Women’s Basketball Federation (WKBL), held an official inauguration ceremony and announced his vision for the development of Korean women’s basketball.
At the inauguration ceremony held today (3rd) at the Rivera Hotel Cheongdam in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, Shin officially took office as the 10th president of the WKBL and said, “We will allow more than 50% more spectators to come within the term.”

“We are at a point where we need to change in line with the rapidly changing trend of world basketball,” he said, “We will create a competitive league where fans come.”
It also expressed expectations for the new Asian quota system, which will be introduced in the 2024-2025 season.
President Shin said, “Foreign and domestic players are competing for the main position,” adding, “We will expand the Asian quarter further in the future to transform into a challenging league with an international sense.”
After graduating from Gunsan High School and Sungkyunkwan University, Shin joined Shinhan Bank in 1982 and served as managing director of Shinhan Financial Group, president of Shinhan Bank, and CEO of Shinhan Financial Group. In 2021, he served as CEO of the Financial Industry Public Interest Foundation.
