The men’s national volleyball team swept past a disorganized Australia.
Led by head coach Isinaye Ramirez, the South Korean team defeated Australia 3-0 (25-18 25-18 25-21) in straight sets on Saturday at the Jecheon Gymnasium in Jecheon, Chungcheongbuk-do, in the third match of the Korea Cup 2024.
With a 2-1 record, Korea will play China on Sunday at 4 p.m. in the final match of the tournament.
The five nations participating in the tournament (Korea, Japan, China, Brazil, and Australia) will play each other once and the team with the most wins will win the championship.
It was a one-sided game. Australia’s players were completely outmatched. Mistakes and errors abounded, with the team attacking 33.33% in the first set.
South Korea took the first set without much of a crisis as they easily extended their lead.
The second set was more of the same. South Korea, led by main hitter Heo Soo-bong, steadily built up points with a steady game management.
